The Egyptian publisher of Amanda Michalopoulou and Christos Ikonomou featured in Nea Newspaper!

So great to see Sherif Bakr, the amazing Egyptian publisher of Amanda Michalopoulou’s, Why I Killed My Best Friend and Christos Ikonomou’s, Something Will Happen You’ll See & Good Will Come from the Sea, featured in Nea Newspaper!
It is wonderful to experience first-hand the power of human connections over the lack of translation subsidy schemes! Thank you, Sherif, for making our books travel!

I am deeply grateful to the Frankfurt Book Fair Fellowship and the Sharjah International Book Fair Fellowship for giving me the opportunity to be part of their strong community of international book professionals. Sherif and I first met in 2012 thanks to the Frankfurt Fellowship. Since then we have been steadily strengthening our professional ties through the Frankfurt, London and Sharjah book fairs.
I can’t think of a better way than this to build cultural bridges and making books travel in the face of economic adversity!
